We have joined the Eco Church scheme which encourages UK churches of all denominations to care for creation by taking practical action and including climate and the environment in worship and teaching. The Methodist Church also has specific initiatives including Action for Hope and has set an aspirational target for the church as a whole to be net zero for carbon emissions by 2030
We already support Fairtrade when buying tea/coffee etc for church activities, and provide our facilities for events such as Fairtrade coffee mornings and a monthly Sustainability Market. Our community centre is a modern energy-efficient building, but in common with many other churches we also have a Victorian building which is not at all energy-efficient !
